The Document Object Model
- A platform and language-neutral interface that lets programs
and scripts dynamically access and update the content, structure
and style of documents.
- Can manipulate the parse tree of the document
(HTML, or other markup -- e.g., XML)
- Can apply style properties (as in CSS) to the
elements.
- Can respond to events (mouse, button, etc.)
and act as programmed.
Helps reduce the incompatibility between Microsoft and
Netscape browsers.
