- XML provides a rigorous framework for specifying
all sorts of structured data. Some current
defined (or works in progress) XML dialects are:
- MathML (for mathematics)
- SVG - Scalable Vector Graphics
- Namespaces - For specifying XML namespaces
- SMIL - Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language
- RDF - Resource Description Framework (metadata)
- XSL - eXtensible Stylesheet Language (metadata)
- X?? - Schema definition Lanaguage
There is work underway to re-specify HTML as a dialect of XML
