Importance of Tags

The tags contain everyting the browser needs to display the document, and define where line breaks, etc, should be added. The line breaks you add are irrelevant -- you could type a documetn as a single line if you wished. Here are a couple of examples, to show what this means -- both are essentially the same document, but the second has no line breaks!

• Example 1 (plain text)
• Example 2 (plain text)

Note how the two look the same, although example 2 has not line breaks -- its just a mass of text.
