The HyperText Markup Language

Documents for delivery over the Web are generally written using the HyperText Markup Language , or HTML .

HTML is not  like most word processing languages, as it does not specify the details of the presentation  of a document.

Instead, HTML is used to specify the logical  organization of a document -- the presentation is mostly left up to the browser that displays it.
