- Figure 2.2 -- The HTML document
listed in Figure 1.1, reworked to be XHTML. Note the conversion of
all upper-case tag names to lowercase, and the added "/" character at
the end of the link and img empty-element tags.
- Figure 2.3 -- Minimum structure
required of all XHTML documents. The text inside XML comments refers to
the content provided by the author.
- Figure 2.4 -- The document listed
in Figure 2.2, reworked to be strictly conforming XHTML. Note
the added XML and DOCTYPE declarations at the beginning of the document.
- Figure 2.5 -- The Base structure for all strictly conforming
XHTML documents must follow one of the three following forms:
- Figure 2.5A -- an XHTML document
containing a body element, and not using any "deprecated" or
proprietary elements.
- Figure 2.5B -- an XHTML document
containing a body element, and also containing "deprecated" or
proprietary elements.
- Figure 2.5C -- an XHTML document
using the frameset element in place of a body.
